Application Guide for 2026 BIPT Programs for International Students

I. About BIPT

Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology is a high-level applied university that focuses on engineering, with interdisciplinary integration of engineering, science, management, economics, and literature. It has a distinct engineering practice characteristic. Established in 1978, the university was transferred from the China National Petroleum Corporation to the management of Beijing in 2000. Its main campus is located in Daxing District, Beijing, and comprises four campuses in total. The university includes 11 teaching colleges and 1 research institute.

BIPT focuses on developing disciplines such as materials and chemicals, intelligent manufacturing, and urban safety operation and managementwhile actively cultivating fields such as electronic information, energy conservation and environmental protection, and biomedicine. It actively promotes the integrated development of interdisciplinary fields such as "artificial intelligence +" and "+ safety emergency" and green low-carbon. The university currently has 33 undergraduate majors, and 7 of them have passed national engineering education professional certification. Nearly 80% of the majors are national or Beijing-level first-class professional construction points.

BIPT collaborates with more than 200 enterprises and institutions such as Yanshan Petrochemical Company of Sinopec, Daxing Biomedical Industrial Base, and Zhongguancun Software Park to jointly build talent cultivation bases, and has established a deeply integrated education mechanism of government-industry-university-research-application collaboration. The university closely focuses on the industrial development needs of the Belt and Road countries, cultivating high-level students in disciplines such as petroleum engineering and energy economics. It has established long-term stable partnerships with over 30 universities or research institutions across more than 20 countries, and recruits international students of different levels such as language students, undergraduate students, and graduate students from around the world. At present, BIPT includes about 13 thousands full-time students of which 10 thousands undergraduate students,1500 postgraduate students.

Notes:

I. Accommodation facilities: air conditioning, washing machine, refrigerator, desk, wardrobe, private bathroom, private kitchen, and campus-wide internet coverage.

II. During winter and summer holidays, students who need to stay at the institute should pay 40 yuan per day per bed for accommodation.

Ⅲ. As required by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, foreign students who will stay in China for more than six months must purchase medical insurance in mainland China. And if they do not purchase the required medical insurance, the institute will not go through the register procedures. Moreover, when students have purchased the insurance, they should submit the copy of the insurance certificate or the policy to the Institute at the time of registration.

III. Scholarships Policy (Person in charge: International Student Office, Ms Zhou, 81292031)

1.        Beijing Government Scholarship is designed to support outstanding international students         pursuing degree and non-degree education in China. Degree programs include bachelor,master and     doctoral studies; non-degree programs include preparatory, general advanced and senior advanced   studies. Based on the level of study and discipline, the scholarship is divided into three categories: A, B,   and C.A covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, living allowance, and comprehensive medical   insurance.B covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, and comprehensive medical insurance.C covers   tuition fees and comprehensive medical insurance.

To apply for Class A scholarship, the applicant must have graduated from a university ranked within the top 500 in the world or a key high school in their home country (with an average score of no less than 85 or a GPA of 3.6). To apply for Class B or C scholarships, the applicant must have graduated from a key university (research institution) or a key high school in their home country (with an average score of no less than 80 or a GPA of 3.0).

2.     BIPT Spring Scholarship is intended to reward outstanding international students in both degree     and non-degree programs. The scholarship is awarded in several tiers: First Prize, Second Prize, Third   Prize, Excellence Award, and Encouragement Award. The evaluation is conducted every spring based   on  academic performance, on-campus behavior, and participation in cultural activities.

3.  All scholarships need to be applied for each year. New students applying for scholarships are evaluated based on their language proficiency, academic performance and interview results.

First-year students should be interviewed by the department, which is usually scheduled in May or June. The time, place and way of interview will be decided by the department.
