The Department of Foreign Languages (DFL) Beijing Institute of Petro-chemical Technology consists of ESP and English Major, in charge of all the English education of the whole institute. DFL has advanced teaching facilities, possesses well-qualified faculty with advanced language teaching concepts. The learners gain one good performance after another in the National English Contest. The specialty for English major is primarily oriented towards Commercial and Trading English. Apart from the fundamental skills of English, this specialty can equip the student with essentials in commerce and trade to make integrated talents. French, Japanese, Russian and German are provided as the selective courses to the learners. DFL has 8 multi-media language labs and 1 Self-Access Language Center. DFL now has a faculty of 40 members, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors and 17 postgraduates. In the past few years, the teachers had more than 20 monographs published, participated in or took charge of around 10 big research items.
