The Faculty of Information Engineering was set up on the base of Automation Department in 2000.The Automation Department was set up in 1990.There are 1500 students,10 post-graduates who are cultivated together with other universities,and over 200 adult students.     There are four majors:Automation,Electrical and Automation,Computer Science and Technology and Communication Engineering.The Faculty of Information Engineering has a staff team that loves their post and respect enterprise and is loved by the students.There are 6 full professors,17 associate professors,5 doctors,6 doctor candidates.Most of the teachers have master degree in this team.There are 14 scientific research projects popularized and 11 works and teaching materials(including the 15-plan teaching material)published.There are 7 scientific research programs at present and the fund for them amount to 6 hundred and 10 thousands RMB yuan.The Faculty of Information Engineering attaches great importance to the international exchange and has invited nearly twenty experts and professors for scientific communion and cathedra.The faculty has successively sent four teachers to other countries for the advanced studies and more than ten students for master or doctor degree study.It also has endorsed agreement of interchanging visiting scholar and student with Houston University of the United States and Norway University.     The Faculty of Information Engineering has thirteen major laboratories,three basic laboratories of electricity and two practice bases.The instruments value 6.14 million RMB yuan.The whole faculty will ingoing the new laboratory building in 2003.The faculty's laboratory will increase to twenty, the condition of the students' experiment and practice,and the teacher's scientific research conditions will be improved greatly the.     The Faculty of Information Engineering pays much attention to the style of study construction and the students' cultivation of integration diathesis.There are many young and diligent students who had won the good achievement at the Beijing physics and math competition every year,and some good student athletes who have won the excellent achievement at the national university student sport meet.While they were having their theory learning,a lot of students take active part in the teachers' scientific research of Beijing or national electronic science and technology competition.They,by doing so,not only improve their practical ability of themselves,but also gained good comment.They were highly spoken of by the society.In 2002,77% of the students coming from other cities or areas found jobs in Beijing in the college.Every year some students go on their further study for the master degree in some key universities and some students have been sent abroad by the college.
