The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is one of the earliest faculties.It has a staff of 63,among who are 18 professors or associate professors,6 with doctor degree and 36 with master degree.There are 1177 students,among who are 21 master or doctor degrees candidates.     According to the education theory that the fundamental knowledge of the students should e solid,and that the range of the professional knowledge of the students should be wide,the school is constituted of four specialties:Mechanical Design and Automation,Process Equipment and production-teaching-research base of optics-mechanics-electronics integration and a key subject,namely mechanical electronic engineering supported by the government of Beijing.It possesses advanced basic laboratories and specialty laboratories.This faculty pays attention to the education quality.It has undertaken many teaching research programs of Ministry of Education and Beijing education Commission and obtained lots of awards for educational achievements.The innovation education and quality cultivation of students are put on the most important place.Students have gained first-class Prize in Robot Contest in Shanghai,and first-class and super-class prizes in the contests of math-pattern establishment,mathematics for non-math major,physics in Beijing,and many students have passed entrance examination for graduate programs of some famous universities,such as Peking University and Tsinghua University etc.     This faculty possesses excellent conditions of teaching and science research and higher academic level.It is standing on the top of same king universities in Beijing.The faculty is undertaking the national 863 project during the period of the ninth five-year-plan,and the 863 key project during the tenth five-year-plan,In addition,the faculty has national natural science fund programs,national teaching reformation programs,backbone teacher support plan programs from Ministry of Education,science research programs of Beijing Education Committee and China Petrochemical Company.The financial support for the scientific research amounts to 10 million yuan RMB,The school has researched and manufactured advanced equipments with knowledge patent,such as special non-orbit and all-location-photo-electronics real time tracking robot,which has reached the advanced level both at home and abroad.
